I have had many people in the past ask me about natural remedies for insomnia. I have some clients that have trouble falling asleep and others that have problems staying asleep. The natural and food-based remedies that I suggest that have been shown to promote sleep and relaxation include tart cherry juice (try Farmigo’ s, it is very good!), chamomile tea, valerian tea, bananas and magnesium. The tart cherry juice is high in melatonin which is a hormone that has been linked to helping regulate sleep-wake cycles. Both chamomile and valerian are teas that have a mild sedative actions and may reduce restlessness.
